WHAT IS THE BEST PROGRAM FOR MY ATHLETE?
The best program for your athlete depends on the his/her goals, and yours. The most accurate way to determine the best fit is to contact us to book an evaluation which will test your athlete's speed, agility and power. During that time, our staff will discuss the results of the evaluation along with goals and recommend the most appropriate program for your athlete.
WHAT IS YOUTH SPORTS PERFORMANCE TRAINING?
Sports performance training focuses on training a young athlete to be the best he/she can be in his/her chosen sport(s). The training includes the foundations of any good athlete: speed, agility, strength and self-confidence. An added benefit of good sports performance training is a reduction of sports related injuries.
HOW DOES SCHEDULING WORK?
ALL BOOKING IS DONE THROUGH OUR WEBSITE HERE. Our training sessions are typically 55 minutes long. Since most youth/athletes train 2 – 3 times per week, we provide maximum flexibility for your busy schedule. You pick the days based on your availability! We even offer Saturday classes. Please see the training and booking tab for more information.
WHAT ARE THE CLASS SIZES?
We allow booking of up to 8 - 10 athletes per class. In the event that a class is fully booked you can choose to be on the waitlist in case a slot opens for the class you are trying to book.
DOES THE PROGRAM INCLUDE WEIGHT-LIFTING? I HAVE HEARD THAT IT'S UNSAFE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN?
Our Rookies classes do not include weight lifting, but use body weight techniques to increase strength in a safe and effective way. Athletes in all of our other program options are eligible to take our Power Max Strength Training class where we incorporate carefully scripted and monitored weight lifting into the sessions.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO SEE RESULTS?
Results depend on the dedication and effort your the athlete puts into the program. Most athletes who come 2 times per week and are engaged in the sessions will feel and see results within a matter of weeks. To monitor progress we conduct monthly challenges to reevaluate athletes to see where they have improved.
HOW MANY TIMES CAN MY YOUTH/ATHLETE TRAIN PER WEEK AND WHAT IS OPTIMAL?
The amount of training per week depends on the schedule of the athlete, but in general 2 – 3 days per week is recommended with 2 days being optimal. Our training is unlimited so your athlete can training as often as their class is offered.
HOW DO I KNOW IF MY ATHLETE HAS IMPROVED?
Athletes in our Sports Performance group training programs are tested once a month as part of our Student of the Month competition. This helps to 1 - show you and your athlete that the hard work they are doing is working, 2 - show the parent that the money they invest into the program is being well spent!, 3 - show the coaching staff the improvement levels of the athletes. Parents will be able to see their athlete's improvement numbers each month. Athletes in the semi-personal and personal training programs are tested during the last session of their package.
CAN MY ATHLETE MOVE UP TO THE NEXT GROUP?
Younger athlete's may be moved up to an older group if they hit 3 or more of the older groups benchmark scores. Those tests are the 10yd and 20yd runs, 5-Hop, 5-10-5 agility test and vertical jump. Example - if a 14 year-old wishes to join Pros, they must hit 3 or more of the Pros benchmark scores. You can review these score with any of the speed academy coaches.
DO YOU OFFER DROP-IN SESSIONS?
We do not offer drop in sessions.
